Congratulations, you’ve found ‘the one’ and now you’re ready to make it legal. But how do you choose the exact day you want to get married? Whether you’d like a season that fits your vision, an auspicious date, a budget-friendly bonanza or the chance to get hitched asap, our guide will help you get it sorted.
If a stunning aesthetic is your priority, make sure you select the season you get married in carefully.
SPRING (APRIL-MAY)
Perfect for Symbolists
Spring, with its promise of new beginnings, is the ideal time for happy couples to start their new lives together. It’s also spectacularly beautiful, particularly in the Cotswolds!
Advantages of Getting Married in the Spring:
• The flowers! Take your pick from cherry blossom, bluebells, irises, peonies, tulips, cow parsley and … wisteria – the perfect backdrop for your wedding pics.
• Longer days and milder weather
• More flexibility when it comes to selecting your dream venue; ditto key vendors (most people want to get married in the summer)

SUMMER (JUNE-AUGUST)
Perfect for Naturalists
What could be nicer than saying your vows outside? Summer weddings are all about sipping champagne al fresco and dancing under the stars…
Advantages of Getting Married in the Summer:
• Hot, clear days
• Family-friendly (if you choose to get married in the school holidays)
• Wider, healthier, food choices
• Extensive floral options – roses, dahlias, marigolds, zinnias, hydrangeas, sweet peas
• Romantic sunsets
Outdoor weddings ceremonies at Cornwell Manor are perennially popular, with many couples opting to get married in front of the fountain and reflecting pool with the house as a backdrop.

AUTUMN (SEPTEMBER-OCTOBER)
Perfect for Romantics
The mellow days of autumn make for some of the dreamiest the year.
Advantages of Getting Married in the Autumn:
• Warm, bright Indian Summer days
• Fabulous Fall colours
• Big, bold florals – dahlias, chrysanthemums, sunflowers, asters…
• Superlative snaps: photographers love autumnal light, which is soft and flattering
• Intimate and cosy marquees: think fairy lights twinkling in the dusk; fires crackling in the hearth inside…
• Venues are often less booked up; ditto wedding guests

WINTER (DECEMEBER-FEBRUARY)
Perfect for Foodies
Winter is the ultimate time for feasting, so book yourself a venue with an intimate dining space, light the candles and tuck in!
Advantages of Getting Married in the Winter:
• Less stress about the weather
• Lower rates; special offers
• Greater venue and vendor availability
• Less likely to clash with other events
• Magical frosty landscapes
• Cosy vibes: roaring fires, sparkling chandeliers, Christmas decorations
• Serious foliage choice: holly, ivy, mistletoe, eucalyptus
• Great for cheering up post-Christmas months
Choosing an auspicious wedding date is easier than you think. Simply work out your main priority and go from there. Family-oriented types, for example, might choose the same date their parents got hitched; romantics the day they first met their beloved, hippies when the planets are aligned, and so on. Alternatively, use numerology to help you name the day (scroll down for more on this).
A word to the Wise:
Choosing an auspicious wedding date is all well and good but it might not work for everyone. Before you book your venue, check that your date doesn’t clash with:
• Landmark birthdays, christenings, graduations…
• Your guests’ annual holidays (if you want to get married in the summer or at Christmas time)
• Local events (sports, conventions) that might drive up costs
• Important festivals or observances

Calculate your Life Path Number
Add the numbers of your birthdate (month, day, and year) until you get a single digit (or a master number 11, 22, or 33)
Example: If your birthdate is July 29, 1985:
7 (July) + 2 + 9 + 1 + 9 + 8 + 5 = 41
4 + 1 = 5 (Your Life Path Number is 5)
Calculate your Partner’s Life Path Number
Follow the same process as above to calculate your partner’s Life Path Number.
Calculate your Marriage Number
Add your Life Path Number to your partner’s Life Path Number and reduce it to a single digit (or a master number).
Example: If your Life Path Number is 5 and your partner’s is 7:
5 + 7 = 12
1 + 2 = 3 (Your Marriage Number is 3)
Determine the Universal Day Number of Potential Wedding Dates
Add the numbers of the month, day, and year of the potential wedding date until you get a single digit (or a master number).
Example: For a wedding on February 20, 2025:
2 + 20 + 2025 = 2047
2 + 0 + 4 + 7 = 13
1 + 3 = 4 (The Universal Day Number is 4)
Find a Harmonious Combination
Consider the Universal Day Number of potential dates in Relation to your Marriage Number. Aim for a combination that results in a harmonious number (eg: 4 or 6).
Example: If your Marriage Number is 3 and you’re considering a wedding date with a Universal Day Number of 4, 3 + 4 = 7 (This could be a good combination, depending on the specific numerological interpretations)
